10 Things You Need To Know About Terminator: Genisys

4. J.K. Simmon's Role

Here's another question mark. J.K. Simmons has been one of those "that guy" actors for a long while, and has a host of great properties - Spider-Man, Oz, Law & Order - and now he adds the Terminator franchise to the list. There's little known about Simmons' character, other than he's a detective with a lot of personal demons (mainly the bottle) who has been tracking the Connor case for decades. In an interview with ComingSoon.net, however, Simmons let slip that nearly all his scenes involved Jai Courtney and Emilia Clarke (Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor), and that Arnold was very involved as well. He also noted he spent very little time with Jason Clarke (John Connor) but that he did get to work with all four leads - so it seems that the Simmons character may be one that ties all the time periods together in a way, as he tracks the story of Sarah Connor through the decades. It's a small part, according to Simmons, but he let slip that as with Smith, his role would get bigger in the proposed sequels.
