10 Things That Deserve Great Movie Adaptations
7. Ménage à 3
Ménage à 3 is one of the most consistently enjoyable episodic webcomics around today. Following socially awkward Gary on his journey of sexual discovery, as well as the raunchy exploits of his beautiful flatmates Zii and DiDi, it reads like a saucier Archie, something its creator Gisele Lagace would later work on.
The scope of the story and its cast have ballooned over the years, as most webcomics do, but the original focus on Gary, Zii and DiDi, would make a brilliant teen comedy.
Given the Judd Apatow treatment, with a focus on the characters as they move from misadventure to misadventure, Ménage à 3 could be both funny and sweet. There would naturally be some cringeworthy moments, but at its heart, it's a very positive and optimistic story, and as a result would end up with more heart and depth than your typical sex-driven comedy.
One way to boost a Ménage à 3 movie's appeal even more would be to have it play up to its Archie inspiration; something like the brilliant Arrested Development episode "Good Grief," with its subtle but hilarious Peanuts references. With Riverdale currently doing well on The CW, the time seems right for Ménage à 3 to bring its brand of adult humour and character development to the big screen.
