10 Things That Make No Sense About Star Wars Sequels

7. Why Did Nobody Come To Leia's Aid On Crait?

In the third act of The Last Jedi, the meager remains of the resistance are stranded in a bunker on the salt planet of Crait. In their most desperate hour, Leia sends out a message to her old allies, using her own personal call sign and channels to drive home the importance and urgency of their situation. In a heartbreaking moment that shows how dominant the First Order is over the rest of the galaxy, they receive no response.

It's an important moment that fits in with the film's themes, builds up Luke's triumphant return, and is just a gut-wrenching scene. Except it gets completely undercut in The Rise of Skywalker. After the entire Resistance fleet begins their assault on the Final Order armada on Exegol, they are reinforced by thousands of ships from across the galaxy, there to make a final stand against the oppression of the Sith.

The moment Poe pulls up from the belly of a Star Destroyer to be greeted by a cavalry that fills the entire sky is breathtaking and one of the best parts of The Rise of Skywalker, but it doesn't make a lot of sense. Why would hundreds of worlds send entire armies worth of ships to Exegol when none were willing to help on Crait? Even Lando admits that he's basically winging it and is praying that the argument of "hope" will be enough to change hearts and minds.
