Michael Myers FINALLY needs to die for real.

Sequels are of course the lifeblood that keeps the lights on in Hollywood, and as much as well all decry a lack of creativity in mainstream cinema, sequels don't have to be entirely soulless, imagination-devoid trainwrecks.

These 10 upcoming sequels, each of them either currently in some stage of production or having recently wrapped shooting, are undeniably among the most anticipated over the next year-or-so.

But each of these sequels nevertheless comes with a degree of risk, from the inherent difficulty of pulling an ambitious premise off, to the fear from fans that it won't stick the landing for the entire franchise.

But these sequels can all avoid some obvious pitfalls or missed opportunities by doing these very specific things.

From killing off certain characters to doubling down on representation, delivering fan-requested cameos, and even keeping a seemingly doomed character alive, these things absolutely need to happen.

That's not to say these films are guaranteed to be unmitigated trainwrecks if they don't heed this advice, but these pointers will ensure they avoid some obvious storytelling mistakes and pleasantly surprise audiences with their unexpected integrity...

10. A Major Character Dies - Jurassic World: Dominion

For a franchise centered around genetically engineered dinosaurs wreaking havoc, the Jurassic Park series has kept a surprising number of its principal characters alive, with most of the ill-fated humans being villains who "deserved" to get devoured.

But if Jurassic World: Dominion truly is the saga-concluding extravaganza that Universal wants us to believe it is, then they should sufficiently up the stakes by having one of the central characters perish before the end of the movie.

The choices are clear: Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), or Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard).

At least one of them should get the chop, really, and considering how obvious it'd be for either Alan or Ian to die in an act of heroic self-sacrifice, what about killing Owen instead?

It'd be a neat subversion of the "legacy sequel" trope that the old dies to save the young, and in turn assure audiences that Dominion truly is wrapping up a six-film arc without the door being left wide open for more.

While this almost certainly won't be the last Jurassic Park movie ever made, killing off Owen would be genuinely shocking considering how safe these films play things with their principal heroes.

Having Owen die to protect the others at the end of the second act would ensure that all bets were off for the climax, with a very real sense of danger the series has largely lacked outside of the original Jurassic Park.
