10 Things That The Batman Gets Absolutely Right
4. Killing Carmine Falcone
With Penguin hiding in the background it’s Falcone that takes centre-stage throughout most of the film. He is the connecting line between some of the film’s major revelations, including being confirmed as Selina Kyle’s father and being strongly hinted as being the person behind the killing of Bruce’s parents.
It would probably be quite a cathartic moment for Bats to finally find out what happened behind his parents' death, and to be able to ask questions about it; unfortunately though, just as this is revealed, Riddler kills Falcone. Welp.
Bruce clearly wasn’t wiling to let Falcone be wiped out following this revelation, after all he just stopped Selina Kyle from popping him. His exact intentions are unclear, perhaps he eventually would’ve broken his no-kill rule and ended Falcone’s life himself once everything was explained, but now he doesn’t get the choice.
It was certainly a bold move to wipe out Falcone, as it closes off certain narrative possibilities. However with Penguin now the top dog, it also opens up a load more!
