10 Things That The Batman Gets Absolutely Right
2. The Explosive Ending
There is one criticism that has been levelled at the Batman and that is that it isn’t as bombastic and explosive as perhaps people were expecting. This is because Reeves wanted to focus on ending the film with a different Batman to the one we began with, placing emphasis on the character’s arc and growth and not getting distracted with too much empty action.
The problem is that we all love to see a superhero do cool, superhero-y things – and to some it was surely disappointing to notice a lack of overly action-heavy set pieces.
What was a bigger concern at the beginning of the film is remedied however when Riddler steps things up by setting his copycat killers on the loose. Not only does Batman blow the bloody roof off, he systematically beats down each of these fools after creating his own makeshift smokescreen with a fire extinguisher. That badass enough for you, huh?
It’s the same with the Batmobile: it only appears for about ten minutes but they maximise that time to make every beat worthwhile. It’s got to be just a great teaser of what more is to come.
