10 Things That Will Never Happen In The DC Cinematic Universe

2. Any Superpowered Pets

The Silver Age of comics is essentially the opposite of what Warner Bros. have gone for with the DC Cinematic Universe. Instead of grim consequences, blood and international geopolitics, the whole point of that innocent era of funny books was to tell fun, light and silly stories that mainly featured fluffy adventures and smiling characters.

It was into that world the various superpowered pets were introduced. Krypto the Super-Dog is probably the most famous, Superman's faithful pooch appearing in all manner of Man Of Steel media, but there's also Supergirl's horse, Ace the Bat-Hound, and even Beppo, “THE SUPER-MONKEY FROM KYRPTON!” as he was introduced.

Modern CGI means you can do some impressive things with animal characters, from the tiger in Life Of Pi to the titular chimps in the Planet Of The Apes trilogies. But nobody wants to see those same animals wearing capes and masks, teaming up with Henry Cavill or Ben Affleck. Least of all Henry Cavill or Ben Affleck, serious actors as they are.

Of course, while live-action appearances from such animals won't be happening, Warner Bros. does have the animated DC League of Super-Pets movie hitting screens this May.
