10 Things That Will Never Happen In The Marvel Cinematic Universe‏

10. Mutants

A small but significant one to start off with: Unless things change considerably - probably after a lengthy court battle or, at the very least, a long period of waiting for options to expire - you will not only never see a mutant character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you will also not hear the word "mutant" spoken. The movie rights to the X-Men still lie with 20th Century Fox, which means they retain exclusive use of all characters, locations, and even words associated with the merry mutants. Marvel somehow wrangled their way into keeping hold of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch for the new Avengers film, because those characters have been as integral in that comic's history as the X-Men. They share custody with Fox, though, which meant that Quicksilver could also appear in the recent X-Men: Days Of Future Past, played by Evan Peters. There was even speculation that Peters could play the character both in X-Men and Avengers, although contracts and continuity nixed that (as did Wanda Maximoff's appearance as his much younger sister, which ended up on the cutting room floor). So the Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch we saw in the end credits sting of Captain America: The Winter Soldier were played instead by Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen, respectively, and Baron Von Strucker refers to the captive, superpowered twins as "miracles" rather than mutants, implying their powers came not due to them being homo superior but some magical business to do with Loki's sceptre. Not only will there be no mutants in the MCU, but they won't even speak the word in Age of Ultron.
