10 Things That Will Never Happen In The Marvel Cinematic Universe‏

9. Anything From The Ultimates

The Marvel Cinematic Universe did take a few cues from Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch's "Ultimate" rethinking of the Avengers, not least of all latching onto Hitch's rendition of Nick Fury as Samuel L Jackson and making it a reality. Millar and Hitch also did a good job of bringing heroes that were created in the sixties kicking and screaming into the 21st century but, er, in a less family-friendly way than the Marvel movies have been aiming for thus far. Captain America is a fish out of water, but is also uber-jingoistic. Iron Man and Black Widow sleep together, film it, and later have to deal with the fallout when the tape gets leaked. Hank Pym assaults his wife Janet in an even stronger manner than in the regular Marvel Universe, which A - Wouldn't been in keeping with the tone of the movies, and B - Won't be happening in the comedic Ant Man, from the looks of it. Thor isn't a god, just a nutter who loves Norse mythology. The first volume of the Ultimates ends with a sexually frustrated Bruce Banner Hulking out to impress estranged girlfriend Betty Ross, who's on a date with Freddie Prinze Jr. As if Freddie Prinze Jr would be in a Marvel film! Oh, also, it'd be an odd move for Mark Ruffalo's Hulk to start explaining, in graphic detail, what he has in his torn purple trousers that a former Hollywood teen star doesn't. That's all mostly just in the first book, too. When Jeph Loeb took over things got even crazier and less likely to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with twins Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver - due to appear in Avengers: Age Of Ultron after being glimpsed at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier (so many colons) - revealed to be in an incestous relationship, and the series ending with Ultimatum, where most of the characters die horribly gruesome deaths. Could be a way to get around contract negotiations and recastings, we guess.
