10 Things That Would Make The PERFECT Batman Film
1. Acknowledge The Silly Parts About Batman
Several points in this article have highlighted the idea that not only is Batman just a wealthy man who beats up the impoverished wearing pyjamas and a cape, but that his entire circumstance for existence could be predicated that Bruce Wayne is an egotistical dork enabled by the people around him.
That's not to say that Batman still isn't cool, or interesting, or fun to read/watch. But it does provide a cathartic message that filmmakers have adopted in some of their adaptations.
The Lego Batman Movie did this brilliantly; merging the super-serious and emotional tones of the Batman mythology, whilst simultaneously poking fun at the Rogues Gallery of villains and superhero film tropes, allowing the film to truly pay tribute to the Caped Crusader.
Yes Batman is brooding and dark, and his onslaught of villains are genuinely terrifying if they existed in the real world, but for a film about Batman to succeed critically it should acknowledge and celebrate the dumb parts about Batman.
As much as we give stick to Joel Schumacher for his two interpretations of Batman; where he doesn't fail is reminding us to have fun with an absurdly dark concept.
