10 Things That Would Make The PERFECT Batman Film

2. Give Commissioner Gordon Something To Do

Objectively until Christopher Nolan came along, the character of Commissioner Jim Gordon was a joke.

Pat Hingle's portrayal as the chief of police stumbled and bumbled in every film he appeared in. His portrayal wasn't even the comic relief of the film; but instead an example of how incompetent and helpless the GCPD was. Fans of the comic and Animated Series (which made Jim Gordon slightly less useless) might shrug off this interpretation, but for a character as seminal as him we would have thought he would have had some integrity at least.

When Gary Oldman stepped into the shoes as Detective Gordon, then Lieutenant and then eventually Commissioner, we saw a completely different side to the character. For the first time, the character of Jim Gordon had an arc that ran in conjunction to Batman's and one could argue his was the more interesting as he battled his own morals and guilt; particularly in the last film.

Confidence in Jeffrey Wright next year hinges on the idea that the actor wouldn't have signed on for the role if he knew he would be demoted to a Pat Hingle or Neil Hamilton role, and instead has a role like Gary Oldman's.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
