10 Things The DCEU Wishes It Could've Done Differently
8. Had More Batman V Superman In Batman V Superman
In the run-up to release, we all had our own lists of the things we most wanted to see in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. We all wanted a great story, sure, and everyone was expecting some Justice League setup, but the one thing that every single person on the planet really wanted to see... was Supes and Bats beating the hell out of each other. We wanted Batman V Superman.
Sadly, one of the most frustrating things about the film was the fact that we only got one short fight scene between the two heroes, before they teamed up to fight a big dumb cave troll - a turn of events that, annoyingly, had been spoiled in the trailers.
The movie sold itself on its title fight (basically every poster had both characters squaring off against one other), but it didn't deliver enough of that action. In reality, the "Batman V Superman" bit only constituted a fraction of the film's runtime, with a litany of subplots involving Lex Luthor, Wonder Woman, Lois Lane, and the upcoming Justice League dominating proceedings instead.
There's a warning in here about over-promising and under-delivering, but the real issue is that Warner Bros and director Zack Snyder simply didn't understand what most viewers wanted from a movie billed as an epic showdown between two popular superheroes. In hindsight, you have to imagine that the studio regrets not beefing up the hero-on-hero action, especially considering how well Marvel's Civil War - which featured a ton of direct conflict between Cap and Iron Man, with very little filler surrounding that central plot - was received.
In all likelihood, more fight scenes between Batman and Superman would've even improved the film's reception.
