10 Things The DCEU Wishes It Could've Done Differently

5. Not Announced All Those Movies So Early

Because it's apparently cool to announce a boatload of franchise films years in advance - even when said franchise is not yet an established success - Warner Bros. decided to announce an extensive comic-book movie slate of its own in late 2014.

Featuring two Justice League movies along with standalone Flash, Cyborg and Green Lantern flicks - on top of the likes of BvS and Suicide Squad - the list spanned from 2016 to 2020, a clear sign that the studio was going all-in with its own cinematic universe plans. Or at least, that was the idea.

Instead, thanks to a variety of factors - the underwhelming response to BvS and Suicide Squad, the inability to lock down filmmakers - four of the ten projects they announced disappeared into the void, and have yet to materialise to this day.

As a result, Warner Bros ended up with egg on its face, a ton of internet bashing, and an army of confused and disappointed fans who weren't (and still aren't) quite sure which movies were happening, and whether or not the DCEU even had a future. Not exactly the environment you want to create.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
