10 Things To Expect From Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 3

2. Inhumans (November 2, 2018)

On paper, the recently-announced adaptation of Inhumans shares several characteristics with Guardians of the Galaxy; a relatively obscure collection of characters based on a series that the general public is likely unfamiliar with, set largely in space and offering a rich and complex backstory and mythology for the rag-tag bunch of heroes. However, given the critical and commercial success that followed Guardians there is every reason to assume that Marvel can accomplish much the same thing with Inhumans, greatly expanding the scale and scope of the cosmic side of their cinematic universe in the process. The project has been rumored since 2011, with Kevin Fiege saying he was 'confident' that the property would be turned into a movie. More recently, Vin Diesel teased his involvement with the project before Joe Robert Cole was hired to write the script in August of this year before yesterday's announcement made it official. The brief history of the Inhumans is that they are the result of genetic experiments by the Kree that were abandoned and ended up forming their own society. The characters include leader Black Bolt, Medusa, Karnak, Gorgon and others, with bulldog-alien Lockjaw in particular having the potential to rival Rocket Raccoon in terms of sheer awesomeness. Feige is a known fan of the Inhumans, and enthusiastically had this to say about the project;
"November 3, 2018 will introduce dozens of characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We really do believe the Inhumans can be a franchise or a series of franchises unto themselves. They have dozens of powers and an amazing social structure. With our 20th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we wanted to continue to refine what that universe is about.€
With the Guardians of the Galaxy currently the only inhabitants in the cosmic side of the MCU, it seems logical for the studio to expand this area of the mythology, and if Inhumans is anywhere near as good as James Gunn's sci-fi superhero movie audiences could be in for a real treat. However, the question remains; with the Inhumans established in their own standalone feature, will they make an appearance six months later when Avengers: Infinity War Part II hits theaters?

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
