10 Things To Expect From Star Wars Celebration Orlando

9. A Carrie Fisher Memorial

As the first Celebration event since Carrie Fisher’s passing last year, it seemed inevitable that Lucasfilm would find some way to honour her legacy as one of the franchise’s most iconic figures.

Thanks to Star Wars fan site Tosche Station, the life and career of Fisher will be celebrated at a memorial gala called ‘Drowning in Moonlight’, proceeds from which will go towards The Midnight Mission, which aims to provide self-sufficiency and recovery for the homeless.

The event will also feature a podcast, a silent auction, prizes, food and drink, and a guestbook in which fans can write well-wishes and condolences for Carrie’s family.

In addition to the gala, it wouldn’t be surprising to see some sort of video package or short film played during one of Celebration’s major panels. Previous events have served as great opportunities to show of eye-opening behind the scenes footage in short video packages, so this year it would only seem right to issue Carrie Fisher a proper Star Wars goodbye.
