10 Things We Learned From The 6-Minute Ant-Man Trailer

2. It "Looks Marvel"

Reportedly, Wright wanted to make a movie more evocative of classic comic books, sort of a three-dimensional Roy Lichtenstein painting, or maybe just some flashback scenes with that aesthetic to contrast with the modern day. If so, precious little of that concept survives in the trailers. Maybe that's just as well, since the last time anybody tried something like that, it was the Ang Lee's Hulk. It would have felt a little too far out of step, perhaps, with Marvel's overall cinematic universe. Wright's previous oeuvre tends to have a lot more talking than your standard action film, even when he's playing around with actiony genres, whereas Marvel films always tend to deliver on the action. Though it's harder to be sure of final word counts from a trailer, it does seem like Marvel had its way here, too. The scenes of Ant-Man and Yellowjacket in particular look set to deliver that usual Marfvel magic. And running up the barrel of a gun as it fires is a cool, comic-booky visual executed with digital technology and enthusiastic flair.
