10 Things We Learned From Thor: Love And Thunder Trailer
1. Wacky Is The MCU Formula
One of the biggest complains about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially during Phase 1 and 2, from critics and fans alike, was the supposed one-dimensional nature of the themes. The quipping protagonist, the female love interest that’s always keeping the main star in line, the CGI fests at the end, the sky beams, these overused tropes became the butt of all MCU jokes.
Fast-forward to post Endgame, Marvel Studios began delivering on the promise of beginning a new era for the MCU post-Infinity Saga. WandaVison introduced us to a never-before-seen kind of storyline. With a vintage romcom aesthetic mixed with a reality altering plot, it was the kind of bizarre mix that completely flipped the MCU taste palette. Loki then took all that and turned the strange meter up to 11. With a plot that effectively made a mockery of time, space, and dimensions, it basically told us the only law in the MCU is that there is no law.
And now, the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder has promised us another hefty dose of wonderful absurdity. Everything from the dialogues, to the action, to the music, to storyline hints, suggest that a while there will be a lot of things holding this movie together, logic won’t be one of them.
