10 Things We'd Love To See In Star Trek Into Darkness Sequels

10. Harcourt Fenton Mudd

The character of Harcourt Mudd first appeared in the Season One episode Mudd€™s Women, and he reappeared in I, Mudd. The character is a prolific pimp, a con man and an all round outlaw. Despite committing some vile crimes, Roger C Carmel€™s character was a lovable rogue. The €˜Mudd incident€™ was referenced in Into Darkness by Sulu as a means to explain the non-federation shuttle being used for Kirk€™s clandestine mission to catch Khan on the Klingon homeworld. Although Mudd has clearly already been met by the reboot universe, we have yet to see the interaction between Kirk€™s crew and this charming character. The comic Star Trek: Countdown to Darkness inferred that Mudd€™s daughter was the Mudd referenced, leaving the possibility to meet Harry Mudd open for the new universe. Mudd would not, and could not, be included as the primary antagonist of a film, but he could make for an entertaining side-occurrence; perhaps he could be met early in the film to show the mundane and normal events of the Enterprise prior to the inevitable galactic threat that the ship will be forced to combat within the plot. The tiny reference to Mudd in Into Darkness was impressive to fans; it showed that Abrams' universe may not be the same as Roddenberry€™s, but it was capable of paying homage to the spectacular original franchise.
