10 Things Wrong With Jupiter Ascending

4. Terry Gilliam's Incredibly Distracting Cameo

While Jupiter is trying to get through the bureaucratic rigmarole of retrieving her deed to Earth, she comes across the Seal and Signet Minister, an eccentric, hairy administrator who helps her out. Though it'll go over the head of many audiences, the actor playing the character is, in fact, director Terry Gilliam, who was clearly cast in the role as a knowing nod to his dystopic masterpiece Brazil. Though Gilliam does a decent enough job in the part, his stunt casting will be distracting to anyone who recognises him, especially if they weren't aware ahead of time that he was going to be in the movie. It's tough to concentrate on the dialogue (not that it's especially important) when you're busy staring at the guy speaking it.
