10 Things You Can Expect From Ben Affleck's Batman Movie

7. Unforeseen Maturity For The Franchise

As much as Christopher Nolan brought sophistication to his Batman movies, the Dark Knight trilogy was still too operatic and fantastical (as well as contractually family-orientated) to be truly considered 'mature'. But judging by his previous directorial work, Affleck could bring that as-yet unforeseen maturity to the new Batman movie. Ben Affleck's films are so uncompromisingly adult, it's difficult to see how The Batman could be anything different. With his work influenced by New Hollywood and adult-orientated crime movies and thrillers, Affleck could make the kind of Batman movie that fans of revisionist Batman comics like Year One and The Dark Knight Returns have been waiting for. This would mean no overbearing gothic-ness (Tim Burton), no day-glo pastiche (Joel Schumacher), no big-screen grandiosity (Christopher Nolan) and no scenes of endless action (Zack Snyder). Ben Affleck is the most adult-minded director that Batman will have ever seen.
