Without any sense of hyperbole, Michael Rooker put in one of the all-time great horror performances as the headline act of John Naughton's Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.

In the years since then, Rooker is better known for playing Yondu in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, as Merle in The Walking Dead, or even for his roles in the likes of Slither and Cliffhanger, but the charismatic actor's finest hour is undoubtedly his turn as murderous drifter Henry back in 1986.

The tale of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer is one of mindless death, with men, women and children all fair game for the antics of the film's central character. And then, just as the movie begins to have you thinking that maybe Henry isn't a totally lost cause, the picture has a final scene that serves as a gut punch that makes you question how you could ever imagine that Henry was anything but pure, unadulterated evil.

Said to be based on real events, those conducting a quick online search on Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer will get the eerie story of the real-life Henry. While in the movie Henry's last name is never mentioned, the real Henry was Henry Lee Lucas - a man who confessed to over 600 murders between 1975 and 1983.
