Representing excellence in theatre, Tony Awards recognise a completely different kind of performance ability than the likes of Oscars and Golden Globes.

Winning a Tony award in 2010 is one of the things that cemented Redmayne as an important up and comer in the world of showbiz, especially given the fact it was his Broadway debut.

The play in question was Red, written by John Logan. In it, Redmayne plays the apprentice of painter Mark Rothko. Rothko (who was performed by Alfred Molina during the original production) is commissioned to paint a group of murals for the expensive Four Seasons restaurant, but is unsure as to whether he should be creating such a commercial project.
