Finally, not many realise there's a whole day dedicated to the character that is, again, a literal child murderer, but those that have discovered this fact haven't been so enthusiastic about the idea. Whilst Freddy Krueger day was set up as a celebration of Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare being released on Friday September 13th, 1991, and celebrated the day before as the Mayor of LA was busy opening a sewage plant - which says a lot for his priorities, honestly - many charities weren't happy a slasher was being regarded with such reverence.

One Director of the Los Angeles Alliance for Survival, Jerry Rubin, was quoted as saying "It's unbelievable. Does that mean you can celebrate by going out and stabbing and killing someone?" Well, you could just go and suck on some old person's face for a bit of denture tasting instead, eh?

The day is meant in good fun, and at the very least,it's a great excuse to binge watch the franchise.
