Steven Spielberg may be the one who noticed and carried Alden into the industry, but if it wasn't for the Marx Brothers he never would have made a curious little movie with his friends for a Bat Mitzvah in the first place.

The Marx Brothers were a family comedy act successful in vaudeville, Broadway and film. They made a huge number of hilarious films in the first half of the twentieth century, and are regarded as one of the funniest comedy groups to have ever existed.

It was watching these hilarious men that not only inspired Ehrenreich to act, but also taught him how. In a 2012 interview Alden stated his desire to begin performing and his understanding of how acting works came from watching Marx Brothers' films when he was younger, without which there would have been no amusing Bat Mitzvah short.
