10 Things You Didn't Know About Alden Ehrenreich

3. He Did All His Own Stunts In Hail, Caesar! (Even Learning How To Lasso Spaghetti)

In Hail, Caesar! Alden plays Hobie Doyle, a Kirby Grant-esque Hollywood western star. When we're first introduced to the character we see him perform the kinds of stunts that films of that ilk were known for: exciting horseback tricks alongside complex lasso work.

Rather than rely on stunt doubles, Ehrenreich trained with horses for six weeks, learning fundamental horseback riding and basic control. He also learned roping, which is easily the most striking talent that Doyle posses in the film. On several occasions we see him perform impressive lasso stunts, all of which were performed by Ehrenreich himself.

By far the most amusing of these, however (and according to Ehrenreich, the most difficult to master) takes place during a dinner scene, when Hobie ties a piece of spaghetti like a lasso and performs various tricks with it. Ehrenreich states that the spaghetti lasso was the toughest to master because there's no such thing as a spaghetti roper to ask for advice. Perhaps it's time for Alden to give up acting and pursue his true calling?
