James Cameron has offered us many astounding visions with each new film he makes. Never seen a robot made from liquid metal? Here’s one for you. Never seen the world’s largest passenger liner sink? Why not sit on the deck as it goes down. However, when it come to sound design, this unique film maker, known for pushing the creative envelope, doesn’t mind borrowing from the best.

When watching Avatar in readiness for the coming sequels, many of the startling animals created to inhabit the exo-planetary moon Pandora may have a familiar ring to them.

On his first foray into the jungle, Jake comes face to face with the panther like Thanator, a six legged, sabre toothed predator, designed by James Cameron himself. Its roar is in fact taken from 1996 Jurassic Park and is the bellowing roar of the T-Rex.

Similarly, later in the film when Jake learns to ride a more friendly Direhorse, the barking noise made by these creatures is taken from none other than the Valocraptors and are the breathy snorts of the Jurassic Parks most dangerous creatures.
