10 Things You Didn’t Know About Benedict Cumberbatch

4. He€™s Perfect For Doctor Strange

You may not think it to look at him, but Cumberbatch is something of an adrenaline junkie and has indulged in all manner of thrill-seeking pursuits, from white-water rafting and skydiving to his passion for motorcycles. He has spoken of his zest for life-affirming experiences on numerous occasions, and also revealed his desire to put pen to paper and further indulge his creative side when his hectic schedule affords him the opportunity. That schedule may become a good deal less flexible if, as strongly rumoured, he agrees to play the lead in Doctor Strange in 2016 as part of Marvel€™s Phase Three. As we know, becoming part of the MCU routinely entails signing multi-picture deals, and perhaps this is a sticking point delaying what was recently assumed to be an inevitable announcement. Should this come to pass (as many fans sincerely hope it will), it would be a tad serendipitous if this snippet from an old interview is anything to go by: €œI'd have liked to have been a neurosurgeon€ It would have been nice to have done something useful, responsible, that required a mind-blowing skill, where something really important hangs in the balance.€ Cumberbatch had been asked what he might have ended up doing had he not pursued acting, so it€™s nice to know he could now also potentially fulfil his neurosurgical ambitions. Sort of.
