10 Things You Didn't Know About Brie Larson

5. Her First Language Was French, Not English

As mentioned previously, Larson's grandparents were French-Canadian and her birth name is Brianne Sidonie Desaulniers, but it's still surprising that someone born in Sacramento, California would grow up speaking French. Then again, Larson was home schooled, meaning she likely didn't face many language barriers for the first portion of her childhood. Nevertheless, living in America meant learning English was inevitable, and she slowly began to transition between the two languages. Even now, however, Larson claims to have a decent grasp of the French language, as she began studying it again in her early twenties, attempting to hone her fluidity.
