10 Things You Didn't Know About Christopher Nolan

9. He€™s Not A Fan Of Modern Technology

Nolan may know his way around film equipment and revel in the opportunities IMAX affords to redefine big-screen entertainment, but don€™t expect him to join Twitter any time soon. As far as anyone can tell, to this day Nolan does not own a mobile phone €“ this was certainly the case a couple of years ago when he was promoting The Dark Knight Rises. At the time, he commented: €œA lot of the things people amuse themselves with really are just toys for grown-ups, and it eats your time and pulls your concentration.€ He explained that cell phones were all but absent when he was starting out in Hollywood, and his workaholic nature means that he€™s never more than a few feet from a phone if the need arises. His lack of interest in modern technology also extends to email €“ for years, Nolan didn€™t even realise that Warner Bros. had set him up with an office email account and eventually discovered thousands of unread emails that included €œsome from quite important people€ before having the account deactivated for fear of causing any further unintended offence. Nolan believes that, rather than bringing people closer, mobile phones and emails actually discourage direct communication and represent a step backwards. He just might have a point there €“ feel free to tweet that.

I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
