8. He Was Nearly James Bond
When Sean Connery announced after 1971's Diamonds Are Forever that he would not return to the role of James Bond again, the role was offered to none other than Mister Eastwood himself. "I was offered pretty good money to do James Bond," he recalls, "but to me, well, that was somebody else's gig." He had the good sense to pass on the part, believing that Bond needed to be played by a Brit. The role ultimately went to Roger Moore, leaving Clint to return to the old West in Joe Kidd. He also passed on the role of Superman, but he did agree to appear in the Batman TV series as Two-Face. Sadly, the series was cancelled before filming took place.
