10 Things You Didn't Know About Clint Eastwood

3. He Was Fired For Having A Big Adam's Apple

Eastwood€™s interest in acting was initially piqued while still in the Army, where he was encouraged by his friends to move to Hollywood based on his good looks. He did so in 1954, and within a few months he had landed a contract with Universal Studios. His first acting roles came in the form of small parts in B-movies such as Revenge Of The Creature and Tarantula. His $75 a week contract didn't last long, as he was promptly fired for having an Adam's apple that was too prominent. Not one to give up easily, Clint persisted with his acting career, supporting himself by digging swimming pools in the Hollywood Hills. His big break finally came in 1958 when he was cast as Rowdy Yates in TV series Rawhide. Apparently the size of his Adam's apple wasn't an issue this time around because he 'looked like a cowboy'.
