While Cobie Smulders would describe herself as being Canadian-American, the fact is that her roots are extremely multi-cultural. Both of her parents were foreign immigrants to Canada - with her father being Dutch and her mother being British - but it was her mother who arrived in North America under the most unique of circumstances after her the boat she was on sank in the Pacific Ocean. Smulders herself explains that They were on a life raft for a day or so. The Canadian Navy comes by, picks them up, and that's how she got to the country."
