10 Things You Didn't Know About Elizabeth Olsen

6. She Considered Quitting Acting In 2004... After Her Sister Mary-Kate Suffered From An Eating Disorder

A full seven years before her feature-film career started - but a decade after her first appearance in one of Mary-Kate and Ashley's productions - Elizabeth Olsen came extremely close to quitting acting altogether. In 2004, when her sister Mary-Kate was taken into rehab for a severe eating disorder, the media circled around the family and publicised their every movement. The intense scrutiny of Mary-Kate, who was unable to try and battle her eating disorder without constant media glare, put Elizabeth Olsen off acting for a while and made her come within an inch of giving it up. Explaining her thought process at the time, Olsen revealed:
"That (2004) was when the media was what I found to be abusive to my sisters, and I thought I really didn't want to be in the industry. "They turned 18 and what was going on in her life - I'm talking about Mary-Kate - was all over the news. "They would follow us shopping and (the twins) would almost get into car accidents because of the paparazzi, and I didn't want to be a part of it. I just thought: 'This is such bulls**t'."
Thankfully, for all fans of her work, despite a momentary lapse of desire Elizabeth Olsen decided she could put up with the intrusive nature of a career in Hollywood after all.
