10 Things You Didn't Know About Elizabeth Olsen

4. Her First Audition Was For The Role Of Carmen Cortez In "Spy Kids"... But She Didn't Get Chosen

Despite the fact she did not make her debut as an actor until 2011, that first appearance could have come a whole decade earlier had Elizabeth Olsen succeeded in auditioning for the role of 12-year-old Carmen Cortez in "Spy Kids". One of the first roles she even auditioned for, Olsen received a callback but ultimately failed to get the part for the 2001 film - which instead went to Alexa Vega. Olsen herself admits in hindsight it was a blessing that she was never cast for the part, however, believing her career would not have taken the path it would. She remains adamant that, had seen been Carmen Cortez in Spy Kids, she would not have landed some of the more serious and respected roles she has since.
