10 Things You Didn't Know About Evangeline Lilly

8. She Used To Work Changing Oil On Big Rig Trucks

Remember when Evangeline Lilly starred in that robot-fightin' movie, Real Steel, alongside the legend that is Hugh Jackman? In that particular flick, she was poised as a woman with a keen interest in mechanics - you know, that stereotypical female character you get in a bunch of movies (think Megan Fox in Transformers), poised as a sort of male fantasy. But the reason that the director of the movie hired Lilly to play said part in the first place is because he wanted somebody who audiences would believe had grown up "in a man's world." Somebody tough. Somebody who had... experience in a similar arena? Yep: before Lilly got famous, she worked part-time performing oil changes and grease jobs on big rig trucks:
"Doing oil changes and grease jobs on big rig trucks in the winter in Canada was . I was a mobile grease monkey. I'd drive a one-tonne truck to parking lots and work on vehicles."
Pretty badass.
