It pays to have friends in high places. Especially if that high place is HBO. Apparently it was a friendship struck up after bumping into each other and having an informal chat that won Jones a brief role on Lena Dunham's Girls, the controversial drama that's either a really cool break for women in television (Dunham writes, directs and stars) or a sad example of gentrification. Anyway, Jones was in an episode of the third season last year, playing the daughter of a recovering drug addict played by Richard E Grant. Dottie was only a one-off character but it was born of a love Jones has for the show, being a long-time fan who's watched every episode. Except, apparently, the episode she starred in. Sometimes its hard watching yourself. Ive seen all of my movies, this is a new thing, trying not to watch my own, she said. Its not for any particular reason, I just think its sometimes good to just let it go. Youre like, I did that, I was happy with it, and I dont want to go back and self-analyse.
