The level of guidance Mirren provides is unknown, but you have to hope an intervention by the veteran actor was what convinced Jones not to star opposite Julia Roberts in 2012's live action Snow White adaptation Mirror, Mirror. Jones was originally in line to take the role of Snow in Tarsem Singh's movie, eventually played by Lily Collins. The daughter of Genesis prog-rocker Phil Collins, Lily's starring role in Mirror, Mirror was supposed to be her break-through part, with Armie Hammer as Prince Charming and Sean Bean as her dad who probably died. It wound up doing okay at the box office and middling critically. Collins has since pinned her hopes on Young Adult adaptation The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, another fate that Jones managed to narrowly avoid by ultimately turning down Mirror, Mirror because she had already agreed to star in the stage production of the German class drama Luise Miller at London's Donmar Warehouse.
