7. Christopher Walken Almost Played Him (And Even Screen-Tested For The Role)
It is unthinkable now for anyone other than Harrison Ford to play Han Solo (um, the upcoming prequel notwithstanding), but the actor was far from the first choice for the role. The shortlist for the part included Nick Nolte, Al Pacino and even Sylvester Stallone, but only two other actors apart from Ford actually screentested for the role. These were Kurt Russell - who wouldn't have been too bad, come to think of it - and none other than Christopher Walken. It's fair to say Walken's Solo - other than being completely unimaginable - would have been very different from the character we know and love and, as great as Walken is, could have severely harmed the films. Maybe he could have played Darth Vader instead? Anakin Skywalken, anybody?
