Sure, Elba already has a significant fan following both online and off (although on is where you tend to get the most extreme reactions, especially when he's throwing out tweets like this to his millions of followers), with the die hard obsessives of his specific work like Pacific Rim, Luther and The Wire alongside people who just love the man himself. Which is all well and good, but it also pays to have friends in high places. And Idris Elba has a fan in the highest place possible. Except for, like, god and stuff. Reportedly during British Prime Minister David Cameron's visit to the US in May of 2012, President Obama arranged for a host of other Brits to visit the White House. The likes of Homeland's Damian Lewis and Downton Abbey stars Hugh Bonneville and Elizabeth McGovern were also on the guest list, but Obama was particularly interested in meeting Elba. €œI liked you in the The Wire but Michelle and I love you in Luther,€ the US President supposedly told him, before trying his luck: €œWhen do we get to see the next season?€
