Elba's not only a magnetic presence in front of the camera, but he's a dab hand behind it as well. Along with producing Luther and executive producing No Good Deed he's also directed a handful of music videos and shorts, most recently co-directing in a clip for the Mumford And Sons single Lover Of The Light, where he also starred in, as a London businessman who escapes to the country. In 2013 Elba was in the director's chair again, for an episode of the Sky Arts series Playhouse Presents, which provides a platform for short films by actors or writers from other media. The Pavement Psychologist was written and directed by Elba, with Anna Friel starring as an accountant who strikes up an unlikely friendship with a homeless man. Last year he helmed an instalment of Pepsi Max's Beats of the Beautiful Game series of short films called Unstoppable, which he also wrote and was the first project to be made through his production company Green Door Productions, about a dorky bloke who gets taught some mad football skills by expert Zach Hamilton.
