10 Things You Didn't Know About Inglourious Basterds

10. Simon Pegg Was Originally Supposed To Play Lt. Archie Hicox

As much as we love Simon Pegg for his partnership with Nick Frost in Spaced and the 'Cornetto Trilogy' and his numerous other roles, we're just not quite sure how well a Tarantino film would have fit the predominantly comedy-oriented actor. Then again, the film does feature Mike Myers as a British army captain, so anything is possible. The role eventually went to Michael Fassbender due to Pegg having other work commitments, and as with all potential what-if castings, we don't know if Pegg would have potentially performed the character as brilliantly as Fassbender did, and without foresight we'll never know. The only aspect about the original casting choice we find odd are the completely different filmographies of the two actors. Pegg to Fassbender isn't exactly a logical choice, but hey, Tarantino obviously knew what he was doing.
