10 Things You Didn't Know About Jeepers Creepers

1. There Were Actually Three Different BEATNGU Trucks Made For The Film

The Creeper’s truck was a 1941 Chevrolet COE (Cab Over Engine), specially built for the film by the studio based on concept sketches by Brad Parker and design sketches by Steven Leglers.

There were three different identical trucks created for different purposes in the film. One was not functional with no engine and was just made as a prototype and designed for the original ending where it is crushed by a train. The second had a six-cylinder engine and four speed transmission, and was used for most of the standard driving scenes.

The third had a newer Chevy V8 engine and automatic transmission, making it much faster and more powerful. It was used for the chase scenes where The Creeper attacks Trish and Darry in their car. Despite this, the exhaust system didn't work, and after every take, the driver had to open the door to let out a cloud of smoke.

All the trucks were sold to a Florida scrapyard by MGM after filming, and two of them have been bought up by collectors. One of them has created a website devoted to the trucks of the film where you can see the original sketches.

For those who chose to stay on after the film back in 2001, the truck is featured in a short post credits scene where it can be seen speeding along the road blaring its signature horn.
