10 Things You Didn't Know About John Carpenter

10. He Made An Uncredited Cameo In The Thing Videogame

The Thing video game from 2002 was a case of having all the ambition in the world, but not having the technology to pull it off. The game was a third person action shooter, where€™d you have to manage a squad of teammates who may or may not be infected. You€™d have to manage their growing fear and trust them with weapons, but in the end, the mechanics were sloppily implemented and teammates would morph into €œThings€ during scripted events, despite being cleared of infection moments earlier. The game was a real love letter to the film, though, and Carpenter himself made a surprise appearance during one section as Dr. Faraday. He gave his likeness and voice to the character, and the best part is you can briefly fight alongside him. There€™s something quite heartening about watching a digitized John Carpenter going to town with a flamethrower, no matter how short-lived the experience may be.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
