10 Things You Didn't Know About Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2

7. Jackass: The Movie Inspired The Brawl Between Elle And Beatrix In Vol. 2

Daryl Hannah, the actor that played Elle in the two Kill Bill films, has stated that the scene in which Beatrix and Elle come to blows in Budd's trailer was heavily inspired by the various stunts of Jackass: The Movie. Tarantino is claimed to have watched the movie during filming the of Kill Bill Vol. 2, which influenced the director's decision to have Thurman and Hannah completely trash Budd's home as a result of their brawl. It's not exactly difficult to see the similarities either. The scene in question is extremely physical in the sense that both Beatrix and Elle continuously throw each through plasterboard walls and doors, making the house on wheels even messier than it was prior to their fight. Other than the utterly gross 'stunts' that the Jackass crew come up with (the drinking of horse semen comes to mind), many of their bits feature physical comedy similar to that of the fight scene in Kill Bill Vol. 2.
Watching grown men jump, head first, into ceiling fans, fight professional boxers in a retail store and sled down stairways clearly gave Tarantino ideas on how to film the scene that eventually found its way into the final film. And people say that the Jackass films have no cinematic value. Pah!
