6. He's Been Married For 35 Years
In a tradition as old as Hollywood itself, stars tend to marry within the industry. Their spouses are often famous, or at the very least, someone they met at some film function, LA gallery opening, or even on-set. There's countless examples of this, from Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, and like the latter, the relationships don't always work out. How satisfying it is to hear then, that Mark Hamill not only married outside the system, to a Dental Hygienist, but has been married to her for 35 years.
Ok, this isn't exactly film news, but it's a crucial insight into the man. Together with a lefty mindset, and as much love for work behind the camera as in front of it, it seems that Mark Hamill is, for lack of a better word, kind of "normal". This wasn't the classic story of a young actor hitting it big early on in his career, then hurtling off the rails in a cocaine-fuelled, booze-soaked, stripper-packed train a la Shia LaBeouf, Lindsey Lohan, Tara Reid, et cetera, et cetera.
Good ol' Mark had his head screwed on from the start. It's always gratifying to hear that come the end of Star Wars, Luke the legend didn't get caught up in his own hype, instead Mark the man bowed graciously and headed for marital bliss.
