10 Things You Didn't Know About Mystique

1. She Was Originally Rogue's Biological Father

Writer Chris Claremont, co-creator of Mystique and main-stay writer for X-Men comics originally envisioned Mystique in an open lesbian relationship with her team-mate Destiny. One element of the relationship would have been that Rogue was conceived when the pair had sex while Mystique was transformed into a man. Marvel however did not want the subject mentioned and so Mystique and Destiny were never openly shown as being in a romantic relationship. This was, of course, partly due to the influence of the Comics Code Authority, which had strict rules on what could and could not be put in comic books. Even though the relationship was scrapped, most fans still caught onto the lingering romantic undertones between the pair, and they have since been confirmed as a couple.

With a (nearly) useless degree in English literature and a personal trainer qualification he's never used, Freddie spends his times writing things that he hopes will somehow pay the rent. He's also a former professional singer, and plays the saxophone and ukulele. He's not really used to talking about himself in the third person, and would like to stop now, thanks.
