3. Burt Reynolds Fired His Agent After Seeing Boogie Nights - Then Went On To Win Awards For His Performance
Not only was Boogie Nights something of a breakthrough role for Mark Wahlberg, it also single-handedly revived the stuttering career of its other leading man, Burt Reynolds. Reynolds played the porn mogul Jack Horner, nailing the part effortlessly from start to finish. You might think that Reynolds would have been grateful for the newfound exposure from a filim which pushed him back out of obscurity, but when he saw the film he reportedly hated it and even went so far as to fire his agent at the time. He then went on to win the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor and a nomination for the same category at the Academy Awards for the role. It didn't exactly revitalise his career, however, and the only recognition of note in the years since have been no less than five nominations for Worst Supporting Actor at the Razzie Awards.
