2. The 'Xenomorph' Mural Is A Tribute To H.R. Giger
Okay, so we've already talked about how the 'Deacon' alien in Prometheus isn't considered to be related in any way to the Xenomorphs, but a key point of contention among fans of the series is a mural present in the film that depicts what appears to be one. Whether or not the mural is supposed to be a Xenomorph or a Deacon is unclear, as the figure depicted isn't detailed enough to suggest that it shows either the former or the latter. What is clear though, is that whatever it was that came out of the Engineer's chest - it wasn't new. An entity that resembled the Deacon was obviously known to the Engineers prior to the one seen in the film, which firmly confirms that the species wasn't born with the one featured on-screen. Whichever way the story goes with future sequels, you should know that the mural in question featured many of H.R Giger's creations while working on Alien, and not only served a narrative purpose, but a homage to the artist that helped to bring the original Alien film to life.
