Her early life afforded Dawson with some vital early life lessons, her mother and step-father's DIY approach to home ownership instilling the actor with the philosophy If you wanted something better, you had to do it all yourself. Of course, that's a pretty heavy lesson to lay on a kid. They need to be able to learn basic Math and Spanish, too.
