7. It Broke The Record For Biggest Lego Set

Given the Danish toy behemoth's popularity, it's difficult to imagine today Lego could have gone bankrupt, but it nearly did during the 1990s and posted its first loss in 1992. The 1999 decision to start making licensed Lego sets was one of the biggest factors in turning the company around, and the biggest license was Star Wars. Just about everything Star Wars-related was released as a Lego kit, and if it wasn't, it was made by one of the legions of online Lego fans.

In 2007 Lego released the Ultimate Collector's Edition of the Millennium Falcon, which sounds a rather grandiose title until you realise it had well over 5,000 pieces and was the physically biggest set the company had ever released. That title was usurped by the gargantuan Taj Mahal model a couple of years later.

Should you wish to own this version of the Millennium Falcon it can be found on eBay, but make sure you have about $5,000-$6,000 spare before you click 'Buy It Now'.
